History

Generation 1

Dorothy Mabel SCOTT was born in 1896 at Bulwell, Nottinghamshire to John Thomas SCOTT and Martha (nee MATHER). She married George HOPKINSON at Bulwell in 1919.

John Thomas SCOTT was born in 1874 in Basford, Nottinghamshire. His parents were John William SCOTT and Eliza (nee WATSON). He married Martha MATHER at Basford in 1895, but after she died in 1902, he married Nelly.

John William SCOTT was born in 1849 in Woodville (previously known as Wooden Box), Derbyshire to Joseph and Sarah (nee WILKINSON). The family probably moved to Basford after 1853, when the youngest Harry was born. John married Eliza WATSON in 1872 in Basford.

Joseph was born in 1824 in Stickney, Lincolnshire - father was John. It is not clear when he moved to Derbyshire but he was there in 1848 when he married Sarah WILKINSON at Repton, Derbyshire. There is also a John SCOTT (father also John) in Woodville about the same time, who was also born in Stickney. Their baptisms have not been found yet.
